FP3

The FP3 Conference took place earlier this month; 4 Xymox teammates attended . FP3 = Functional Printing, Process, & Products. The speakers at this conference highlighted emerging technologies, unique ideas, and insight into the importance of user experience (UX). As the HMI (Human Machine Interface) technologies evolve, so do the performance and design requirements.

In one sentence, can you sum up your visit to the FP3 conference?

Bill: “Printed Electronics is still looking for a footing for applications in high volume. Most presenters talk in wide generalities so technically it is hard to get meaningful information.”

Dean: “The FP3 conference confirmed that Xymox practices many of latest strategies for running a business and working to find solutions to our industry’s most challenging technical problems.”

Jon: “The FP3 conference did an outstanding job engaging the functional printing community by addressing common challenges and future opportunities.”

Brad: “A unique opportunity to find out more about how other companies are being innovative and successful within the area that is functional printing.”

Some other interesting take-aways:

  • Did you know that magenta is a made-up color that persists only in our minds? It does not physically exist in nature. Think ROYGBIV and the spectrum; yellow is a discrete color in the spectrum. Magenta is made by combining blue and red wavelengths, our minds combine them to form magenta, but you cannot separate out magenta in the spectrum.

  • Fear is one of the biggest blockers to creative thinking. Emotional intelligence (also known as Emotional Quotient, or EQ), according to Google, is the capacity to be aware of, control, and express one’s emotions, and to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously and empathetically.
    • From low to high, the 7 states of emotion are Fear, Anger, Sadness, Envy, Hope, Joy, Love.
    • Keeping people in the Love/Joy/Hope side of their emotional intelligence ladder improves performance.
    • Not surprising, but interesting to remember, the correlation between emotional intelligence and job performance. Having a low EQ inhibits your self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy, & social skills.
